The Last Story, Hironbu Sakaguchi’s latest game

Official Japanese Website:

6 days ago in Japan, Nintendo released Hironbu Sakaguchi’s latest jRPG game for the Nintendo Wii console, The Last Story (ラストストーリー). As you already know Sakaguchi is the creator of the Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー) Japanese Role-Playing Game series. The guys that programmed and created this game are jRPG experts and gurus, the composer is Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy) and supervisor is Takuya Matsumoto (Blue Dragon). From what I have seen and read so far (soon I’ll own it and sit down and play it), the game is simply amazing! It seems that it never bores the player without giving him control for a long time, that the cutscenes have the right lenght and that Sakaguchi and his team achieved some graphically miracles like HDR lighting in the Wii console. It will feature online co-op and competitive muliplayer modes with up to 6 players (friends or random players). It will have destructible elements in the enviroment that will affect the flow of the battle and innovative action based real time battle system.

Japan’s biggest videogames magazine Famitsu gave this game a big 38/40 score (10,10,9,9). Unfortunately, like Xenoblade (ゼノブレイド) the game might not be officially translated in English. That’s sad! But let’s hope for a fan-translation. Will definitely keep you updated if that ever happens. For now, just import the game from your import store specialist, read a guide if you get stuck because of the language and play it in Japanese.
